2021 Best High Schools

According to U.S. News & World Report, Grandview Heights High School is one of the nation’s best high schools. The 2021 edition of Best High Schools is an annual report that identifies the country’s top-performing high schools based on a multitude of factors.

“Thanks to the tremendous support of our community, staff and families, we are proud to be among the best of the best,” stated Superintendent Andy Culp.

Grandview Heights High School earned a 96.82 out of 100, making it among the top schools in the nation. GHHS is ranked #4 among Columbus area high schools, in the top 3% of Ohio high schools, and in the top 4% of all high schools nationwide.  Grandview Heights High School is also one of the select schools to score high enough in the ranking methodology to earn the prestigious U.S. News-trademarked 2021 Best High Schools award badge.

U.S. News calculates these values based on student performance on state exit exams, internationally available exams such as Advanced Placement (AP) on college-level course work, graduation rate, and college readiness.

Grandview Heights Schools takes great pride in its high graduation rate and Advanced Placement offerings. Our AP programming continues to grow, with many students taking advantage of AP course offerings and earning college credit through passing marks on AP Exams. In 2016, Grandview students sat for 238 AP exams and 70.1% of those students scored a three or above (the score needed to be eligible for college credit).  In 2020, our students sat for an additional 95 exams.  Of those 333 exams, 79.4% of students received a score of three or higher resulting in three annual AP Honor Roll Distinctions from the AP College Board.

“Our amazing staff, broad curriculum, and extra-curricular opportunities create an environment for our students to explore their passions, develop purpose, and unlock their potential,” added Culp. “Grandview Heights Schools is truly a small place to dream big,”
