A Message from Treasurer/CFO Beth Collier
At Grandview Heights Schools, our goal is to maximize and personalize every student’s learning and we strategically prioritize our financial resources to help make that happen. Soon, every district residence will receive a copy of our annual Financial Prospectus in the mail. A prospectus is defined as a printed document that advertises or describes a school, commercial enterprise, forthcoming book, etc., in order to attract or inform clients, members, buyers, or investors.
Our Financial Prospectus 2022 offers taxpayers - our investors - an in-depth look at Grandview Heights Schools’ current financial position and answers our most frequently asked questions such as where does our revenue come from and what are our spending priorities. It addresses the continuing impact and importance of the Grandview Yard and shares how the district is maximizing tax dollars.
The prospectus offers an update on our 55.25 million dollar Facilities Master Plan progress. This work began more than five years ago, and would not be possible without the invaluable feedback and support of our community. We are set to begin the third and final phase of our Facilities Master Plan in January 2023. We are proud to share that this project remains on-time, on-budget, and on-quality!
As well, readers will learn more about our collaboration with the City of Grandview Heights to create new public park space, consolidate our school parking, and make infrastructure upgrades to Fairview Avenue. The district has also been involved in the exploration of an athletic complex master plan to prioritize that facility’s most critical needs.
The success of our facility construction project has also elevated our mission to maximize and personalize every student’s learning. We recently initiated a collaborative process with students, staff, alumni, parents, and community members to revisit our strategic plan. The strategic plan and our corresponding goals are what drive our annual objectives and focus our collective work throughout our organization. It is this document that brings our mission to life.
In addition to being an informative document, the annual prospectus provides the district with an opportunity to once again express gratitude to our community and donors for their generous support. Along with taxpayer support, two significant contributions will fund enhancements to our project that will enrich student learning and add greater value to our facilities.
A $250,000 donation from Grandview Heights High School alumnus Bill Boardman (Class of 1959) and his wife, Nancy Boardman, will provide for an outdoor learning space that will give our high school students and teachers the opportunity to learn outside a brick and mortar classroom. As well, a $200,000 contribution from the Grandview Heights Marble Cliff Education Foundation will fund an outdoor discovery space at the new Larson Middle School that will also provide welcoming outdoor seating and community play space.
A heartfelt thank you to these donors and our community of supporters for the investment you are making in the Grandview Heights Schools. Commitments of time, talent, and or treasure all contribute to the common good.
