Happy 2023! Grandview Heights Schools have much to share and celebrate as we move into a new calendar year! On January 7, we will host the official ribbon cutting and celebrated the opening of our comprehensively renovated Grandview Heights High School and completion of Phase 2 of our Facilities Master Plan.
Thank you to the hundreds of students, staff, alumni, and community members who tirelessly volunteered their time, energy, and expertise to help make this vision a reality. Throughout our process, student and staff safety has been, and remains, our number one priority. All of our school buildings, including Stevenson Elementary, have received safety, security, and accessibility upgrades.
Larson Middle School and Grandview Heights High School are now modern 21st century learning spaces that offer our students and staff safe, efficient, and flexible classrooms complete with state-of-the-art technology. Our welcoming outdoor learning spaces will enrich and enhance learning, spark creativity, and build community. Our new and renovated buildings are tangible reflections of our community’s strong sense of tradition, its continued commitment to educational excellence, and our ongoing mission to maximize and personalize every student’s learning.
Soon every resident in our school district will receive a comprehensive mailer filled with gratitude, information, and photos detailing and celebrating the grand reopening of our beloved high school. We hope you enjoy perusing this information. We certainly enjoyed preparing it for you!
At Grandview Heights Schools, providing consistent, effective, and engaging communication is important. First, we want to be transparent. We believe we have an obligation to be in touch with all residents living or operating businesses in the Grandview Heights Schools district. We all have a stake in our schools and each and every one of you is a partner in our success. Our good news is your good news!
Second, there are a lot of great things happening in our district every day! From what’s happening in our classrooms to sports and extracurricular activities, we enjoy celebrating the accomplishments of our students and staff. Whether it’s our Boys’ Soccer team winning back-to-back state championships, the details and progress on our strategic planning process, previews of our upcoming music and theater concerts and productions, or the value that our service and experiential learning experiences have on our students and the community, we want to share these good news stories.
We want to thank ThisWeek News for being a steadfast and fantastic partner in helping us share our stories with you. ThisWeek News is ceasing publication in January and this is my last column to be published. The fact that this partnership is ending after many years and hundreds upon hundreds of published stories and photos is met with great sadness by Grandview Heights Schools, our students, staff, families, and community.
On behalf of the students, staff, families, and residents of Grandview Heights Schools, I want to take this opportunity to express heartfelt appreciation to ThisWeek News; reporters Alan Froman, Nathan Ellis, and Gary Seaman Jr.; editors Lee Cochran, Scott Hummel, and Dennis Laycock; and the many sports writers and photographers, among so many others, for always keeping the City of Grandview Heights and the Village of Marble Cliff informed and connected.
