ABOUT THE DRIVE
Grandview Heights Kids Club and PTO came together to support 40 families in need before the Thanksgiving holiday. Kids Club families generously donated food items that filled meal kits with all the
essentials for a festive holiday meal—mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, yams, gravy, cooking pans, and more.
The PTO contributed a large collection of winter coats, hats, gloves, and other gear to ensure every family member stayed warm throughout the season. Families were invited to select any of the items they needed, ensuring everyone was prepared for the colder months ahead.
Additionally, thanks to community support, each family received a $25
grocery gift card to purchase a turkey or ham.
These families live in a Columbus Metropolitan Housing Association community situated in a food desert, where, for years, they depended on a Thanksgiving meal drive organized by After School All Stars (ASAS), an organization that provided after-school care to low-income families in Columbus. Unfortunately, ASAS closed its doors in August 2024, leaving a gap in this vital community support. Allie Hall, the Assistant Director of Grandview Heights Kids Club, had previously worked with ASAS and, in her new role, was determined to bridge the communities of her past and present.
Thanks to the generosity of Grandview Heights Kids Club families, the PTO, and the broader community, we were able to carry on this important holiday support, ensuring that families in need had the resources they deserve during the season.
Thank you, Grandview, for your continued generosity. Wishing everyone a warm and happy Thanksgiving!
