The Grandview Heights High School Vocal Music Department will present Meet Me In St. Louis based on the iconic movie featuring Judy Garland. The production is directed by April Olt with musical direction by Andrew Grega, and choreography by Whitney Thomas Eads.
This musical features popular songs by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blaine including The Trolley Song, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, The Boy Next Door, and the title song, Meet Me In St. Louis. The musical is based on “The Kensington Stories” by Sally Benson. This musical is closely connected to the Central Ohio area as the movie director, Vincente Minnelli, based the film set on his family home in Delaware, Ohio.
The high school cast is led by Alexandra Joseph as Esther Smith and Anna Kahle as Rose Smith (Thursday and Saturday evening performances); Taylor Oberschlake as Esther Smith and Riley Cochran as Rose Smith (Friday evening and Saturday matinee performances); Kevin Daniel-Hamberg as John Truitt; Ross Carter as Warren Sheffield; Glenn Cheney as Lon Smith; Caitlin Hyde as Anna Smith; Ashley Linville as Agnes Smith; Andy Landrum as Alonso Smith; Elizabeth Bergmann as Katie; Chris Mihocik as Grandpa Prophater; and introducing Stevenson Elementary students as Tootie: Ava Baker (Thursday and Saturday evening) and Penny Debelak (Friday and Saturday matinee).
The performance dates are Thursday and Friday, March 3 and 4, at 8:00 p.m., and Saturday March 5, at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the Grandview Heights High School Auditorium located at 1587 West Third Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43212. Tickets are $10.00 (side seating), $15.00 (center seating) and a discounted price of $5.00 for students with ID on Thursday and Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the door.
