A recent financial audit of the Grandview Heights School District has returned a clean audit report. Grandview Heights Schools’ excellent record keeping has earned it the Auditor of State Award. According to District Treasurer Beth Collier, “A clean audit means our financial audit report contained no internal control deficiencies, non-compliance citations, or other audit findings. It is the best report we could have received. Furthermore, there was no management letter, a report issued by the auditor to communicate issues or recommendations of lesser significance than those generally included in an audit report. “
Each year, school districts and local governments are required to submit a financial report to the Auditor of State’s Office. The Auditor of State Award is presented to local governments and school districts upon the completion of the audit. Entities that receive the award meet the following criteria for a “clean” audit report:
- A district must file timely financial reports with the Auditor of State’s Office in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP).
- The audit report must contain no findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, Single Audit findings, or questioned costs.
- The district’s management letter must contain no comments related to ethics referrals, questioned costs less than $10,000, lack of timely report submission, reconciliation, failure to obtain a timely Single Audit, findings for recovery less than $100, or public meetings or public records.
