Dear Grandview Heights Schools Families,
Before the weekend arrives, don’t forget to take just a minute and order your child’s back to school supply kit from 1st Day School Supplies! As you know by now, our PTOs at RLS and EILMS offers an exceptional service to help you prepare for the coming school year. The annual School Supply Sale has been the best solution for families to purchase their school supplies in one fast, convenient, and cost-friendly manner.
If you have students entering grades K-8, you can access the required supply lists and check out in one transaction in less time that it would take to read this email! Kits are then delivered right to your students' classrooms - ready for use on the first day! In addition to your supplies www.1stdayschoolsupplies.com also offers Under Armour brand backpacks, lunch boxes, and water bottles. These items will be delivered to your home before the first day of school by a friendly PTO volunteer. ORDERS MUST BE PLACED BY JUNE 30th!! Order for the grade that your child is entering in August.
I have had the pleasure of managing this service for four years and am always pleased at the overwhelmingly positive feedback that parents offer about how easy the process is, how much time is saved by not having to go to multiple stores, searching for items that may be out of stock or hard to find, or simply not having to shop last minute! This is an OPTIONAL service, and we recognize that "shopping local" is the preference many have. No problem... I encourage anyone to shop locally, but will caution that every item on your supply lists are not available in a single store.
What many families have done is to order your kits on line and then shop locally for the "cool stuff" that kids can use at home for their "homework station" - inspiring them to get their work done with character pencils, practice their writing in their sparkly notebooks, and stashing their masterpieces in Captain America folders! Additionally, Mike and Connie Meadows, 1st Day owners, have been supporters of our Grandview Heights Schools community from the beginning - donating to teams riding and running for Team in Training and Pelotonia, and donating annually to the Grandview Heights/Marble Cliff Education Foundation!
And if you were wondering just who is making your child’s kit? 1st Day School Supplies is a family-owned company who takes great pride in not only the products and service they provide, but also hires a very special group of associates! The team is made up of a who's who of college students. Some of them will go on to become doctors, lawyers, accountants, entrepreneurs, and engineers.
They are involved in a range of activities including sports, music, and community service. Associates have achieved many great accomplishments including: pitching a perfect game and winning two Division I national titles in wrestling as well as a NAIA championship team member in basketball. Among the associates, we have a national qualifier and an All-American, debate champions, multi-state wrestling titles, and even a rifle state champion. On top of that, academically we have one associate who scored a perfect 36 on his ACT. Six summer associates are carrying a perfect 4.0.!
Working alongside the team of college students, is a team of individuals with disabilities. Team members with disabilities help breakdown and prepare supplies that will be kitted. This incredible group of dedicated people are the best in the world at what they do! Many of them compete in Special Olympics. This year, several associates played on the state championship softball team and one of the associates placed 2nd in the state in Bocce Ball, while several others competed in volleyball, softball and power lifting!
