The Grandview Heights Schools, Starting Talking Grandview, and the Grandview Heights PTOs will host Digital Self-Defense: Helping Kids Stay Safe in the Digital World on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. in the Grandview Heights High School Auditorium.
Social media use has exploded fueled by devices that allow students to be constantly connected. Some students use social media responsibly, others do not. Make sure that your child is not one click away from damaging reputations or career and educational aspirations.
The presentation addresses the following topics: Digital Self-Defense Strategies for Students and Parents, Five Apps Every Parent Should Know, and Post Positive: Ways to enhance your digital footprint.
The presenter, Dr. Tim Conrad, received his B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. Licensed as a teacher, professional counselor, and school counselor; certified as a career coach, Dr. Conrad has taught at The Ohio State University, the University of Dayton, Capital University, and Ashland University. His current area of research is “Ethics, Boundaries and Social Media”.
An often-requested speaker, he has shared his digital safety program with over 100,000 people, teaching practical ways to be online without going over the line.
Dr. Conrad will also make two presentations to students in grades 4-8 during the day.
