On Friday, October 26, 2018, Lauren Hartman and Gabrielle Caito were recognized as National Merit Commended Scholars by Grandview Heights High School Principal Rob Brown at a celebratory breakfast in the Brotherhood of Rooks Media Center.
"Gabby is being recognized as a scholar in the top 2.5% of all Hispanic and Latino PSAT test takers in our region. A truly remarkable achievement. Lauren is being recognized as a commended scholar who placed in the top 50,000 scorers in the nation out of 1.6 million, putting her within the top 3%," said Brown. "These two young women have clearly demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success."
According to the National Merit Scholarship Committee, these students represent a valuable national resource. Recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their school play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. The hope is that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.
"On behalf of the entire district, we couldn’t be prouder of not only your academic achievements, but also for the outstanding character you both demonstrate. Parents, we know that achievement like this doesn’t just happen. It is the culmination of intelligence, hard work, a supportive school system and most of all, caring/ dedicated parents. Lauren and Gabby, you two are going to change the world. No, scratch that… you two are already changing the world," concluded Brown.
