In a Columbus Dispatch article, published January 12, Stevenson Elementary teacher Angela Pharion and her third grade students were featured regarding the inclusivity of cursive writing into the curriculum. House Bill 58 now requires the Ohio Department of Education to create instructional materials on the development of handwriting by July 1, which would include being able to write legibly in cursive by fifth grade. The decision to teach cursive writing though remains at the local level. Read the Dispatch article here:
